I provide services for the following mental health concerns:

  • What is it? Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is characterized by frequent, intrusive worry thoughts (obsessions) followed by time-consuming, distressing rituals (compulsions). While many have seen OCD depicted in media, it can often look very different in real life and may go unidentified by parents or the sufferer themselves.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Ages that I work with: 8+

  • What is it? Social anxiety is characterized by persistent fear of social judgement. It may cause sufferers to isolate from peers, ruminate on so-called “awkward” encounters, and avoid putting themselves in any situation that could be perceived as vulnerable or embarrassing (i.e. birthday parties, hang outs with friends, class presentations).

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Ages that I work with: 8+

  • What is it? Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by frequent and uncontrollable worrying. It may be accompanied by stomach or headaches, sleep troubles, or a reluctance to tolerate novel experiences.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Theray (ACT)

Ages that I work with: 8+

  • What are they? Specific phobias are intense fears with specific triggers, often characterized by avoidance. Common phobias include fears of animals (i.e. spiders, dogs), heights, needles/blood, or vomiting (emetophobia).

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Ages that I work with: 8+

  • What is it? Panic disorder is characterized by frequent episodes of panic, including strong body sensations (such as heart palpitations, trouble breathing, dizziness, etc.). Sufferers may worry they are dying or going crazy, often leading them to avoid these sensations altogether.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Ages that I work with: 8+

  • What is it? Depression is characterized by a persistent low mood (or irritability in kid and teens). Depressed individuals may struggle with motivation to complete daily activities, feel frequently hopeless or worthless, and may have thoughts that life is not worth living.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Activation (BA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Ages that I work with: 11+

  • What is it? Separation anxiety, typically seen in pre-school or elementary aged children, is characterized by fear of being separated from attachment figures (typically one or more parents). This may make things like school drop-offs or sleepovers difficult.

Interventions utilized: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Ages that I work with: 3+ (parent-based intervention likely indicated)

  • What is it? Chronic procrastination occurs when individuals struggle with putting off or completing tasks, such as homework or cleaning their room. While this can occur for a number of reasons, including ADHD and perfectionism, it tends to build up and creates a great deal of stress for the procrastinator.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Procrastination, Contingency Management

Ages that I work with: 11+

  • What is it? Parent coaching may be a useful method of intervention when a child is unable or unwilling to participate in therapy themselves. For some presenting issues, including disruptive behaviors and separation anxiety, parent coaching is recommended as the most effective treatment avenue.

Interventions utilized: Parent Management Training (PMT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Exposure and Response Prevention

Ages that I work with: 3+

Note: It may be determined mid-treatment that a shift to parent coaching is indicated. In this case, the client remains the same (the child), though our method will focus more on how to best structure their environment to set them up for success. Parent interventions are often as effective, if not more, than individual interventions.

  • What is it? Perfectionism is a personality trait that manifests in thoughts and behaviors. While perfectionism may be a trait that helps us succeed at times, it can become maladaptive when we set our standards too high, create arbitrary rules for how things “should” be, and refuse to tolerate anything short of perfection.

Interventions utilized: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Perfectionism, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Ages that I work with: 8+
